Decide the length first
Choose how long you intend to stay before you open a dive. A finite plan beats an open-ended one every time.
Reef Deck/Safe Dive
Responsible playNothing of value is at stake in the Lumen Reef — but time and attention still are. This guide covers how to keep a simulation exactly that: light, optional and easy to put down.
A social casino removes the external consequence, not the pull of the mechanics. Cascades, streaks and climbing counters are engaging by design, and for a small number of people that engagement can turn into a habit that crowds out the rest of the day. Recognising it early is far easier than unwinding it later.
Casino-style simulations can also normalise the rhythm of similar real-world activities. If you already have a difficult relationship with those, the reef may not be a good place for you, and the organisations below are a better first stop than another dive.

Your phone timer is more reliable than your sense of elapsed time, particularly during a long cascade run.
The reef is a poor answer to stress, boredom or a bad day. Come to it in a good mood, not to manufacture one.
Late-night sessions run longer and feel worse afterwards. Give yourself a hard cut-off in the evening.
When Pearls run out, that is the session ending naturally. Wait for tomorrow's allocation rather than chasing the counter.
If you would rather people did not know how much time the reef gets, that discomfort is worth listening to.
Any of these appearing regularly is a reason to pause and reassess:
If several of these are familiar, step away from the reef and speak to one of the independent organisations listed opposite. Their help is free and confidential.
Every dive is capped at 25 swaps, producing a natural stopping point instead of an endless loop.
There is no store and no way to acquire more Pearls than the daily grant provides.
No streak penalties, no expiring offers and no notifications designed to pull you back.
The 18+ marker and the zero-value notice appear on every page of the reef, not just this one.
A good session is one you enjoy and then stop thinking about. If that stops being true, close the tab and reach out to one of the organisations above.
